The Si3 Driver, with a 340cc clubhead, was Ping's largest driver at the time of release. The Si3 features full face forged titanium technology, which company officials say allows them to use a larger and thinner titanium face for improved forgiveness and strength.
The forged face of very thin titanium wraps around and connects with the body of the Si3. This feature creates a more efficient energy transfer to the ball for greater distance. Another key feature is what Ping call strategic weighting, which they say results in more square hits. With its propriety lightweight shaft and grip, the total weight of the Si3 is approximately 300 grams. This makes it easier to swing, which helps produce faster swing speeds and longer drives. The Si3 shafts weigh 60-65 grams and were designed as a family with a very defined margin of torque and flex among models. This permits a more accurate fit of the Si3 driver for all golfers.
