What is the SIM2 Max Iron Set?
The SIM2 Max iron set had big shoes to fill as they had to follow in the footsteps of the previous iron set of the same name from TaylorMade. Once again, they delivered as they’re offering some of the most forgiving irons up to date, while still preserving their distance and height at launch.
Tech Talk
• Cap Back Design: One of the most noteworthy innovation from TaylorMade’s SIM2 Max Iron Set, the Cap Back Design help stabilize the clubface at impact. In other words, it will help reduce the penalty of mishits while still providing plenty of distance and height at launch.
• Fast Forgiving Face: The newly redesigned face of the SIM2 Max irons from TaylorMade are designed to provide just a much speed on mishit than perfect contacts in the middle of the face. This new clubface looks to be flexible, fast, and forgiving.
• Improved ECHO Damping System: Returning from the SIM Max Irons, the ECHO Damping system will serve players well as it will provide them with some of the best feeling clubs on the market. The ECHO Damping system will reduce undesirable vibrations running up the shaft to the player’s hands.
Expert Review
The TaylorMade SIM2 Max Irons are an excellent choice for beginners, offering forgiveness and distance.
During our tests, we found the SIM2 Max Irons to be a perfect fit for beginner golfers. Their design is incredibly forgiving, thanks to their low center of gravity and wide soles. Hitting the ball higher and straighter was a breeze, and mishits were more forgiving. The Speed Pocket technology also adds distance to your shots, which is fantastic for building confidence.
However, it's worth noting that the chunkier clubhead, while great for forgiveness, might not suit everyone's eye at address. Some golfers prefer a sleeker look, like the P790 irons from TaylorMade. Additionally, while these irons provide excellent distance and forgiveness, they might not offer the same level of workability as more advanced player's irons. So, if you're a golfer looking to shape your shots precisely, you might find these less accommodating.
Ultimately, while they might be the go-to choice for beginners, they may not cater to every golfer's aesthetic and workability preferences. Ultimately, your choice should align with your goals on the course and your personal preferences in terms of looks and playability.
